AOAO
It’s a little eyebrow-raising to see a rooftop izakaya in Central offering a festive tasting menu this generous – but AOAO is making a strong case for Christmas dining with its seven-course seafood-focused set at HKD$988 for two (available 24 to 26 and 31 December). The menu is built for two to enjoy together, served warm and composed, with dishes that are easy for everyone at the table to love. On the line-up: Tempura Vegetable Nori Roll, pan-fried halibut and, to close, a Japanese apple crumble for something sweet. There’s also an optional mulled wine pairing, available as a cocktail or mocktail, if you want to lean all the way into the season.

Arcane
For those looking to do Christmas dining properly, Arcane is rolling out two limited-edition menus from 24 to 26 December, showcasing the Michelin-starred restaurant’s produce-led cooking. The Christmas Lunch Menu (HKD$1,288) is available for lunch only across the three days, with seasonal highlights like pumpkin ravioli with sage beurre noisette and chanterelles, slow-braised Wagyu short rib 7+, and a bright finish of clementine leaf mousse with pain d’épices ice cream and mikan. If you want to go bigger, the Premium Menu (HKD$1,688) is served for lunch and dinner on 24 to 25 December (and lunch only on the 26th), and leans into more luxurious plates – Oscietra caviar with lightly poached toothfish and pan-fried langoustine with globe artichoke, followed by petit sweets like vanilla canelé and pistachio & Earl Grey cannoli. And for those ringing in the new year, Arcane’s New Year’s Eve Dinner Menu (HKD$1,688) on 31 December includes torched ma yau in truffle-yuba sauce, ending with a layered Japanese winter strawberries mille-feuille – a fitting finale to 2025.

The Astor
One of Hong Kong’s most festive – and most theatrical – buffets is The Astor’s Christmas Market Buffet, running until 31 December. For the whole month, the restaurant transforms into a storybook winter village, complete with twinkling lights, rustic market-style stations and that warm, bustling holiday atmosphere (yes, roasted chestnut and mulled wine included). The star of the spread is the Miso-Grilled Maine Lobster Tail, served individually, alongside a generous seafood bar of oysters, crab, mussels and whelks, with cold lobster making special appearances on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve. Roast fans are well taken care of too: carving stations turn out traditional roasted turkey, roasted M7 Wagyu, porchetta, honey bone ham and Beef Wellington (available 24 to 26 December). Add a salad bar, a ham-and-cheese counter (featuring 36-month Ibérico ham on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), plus live pasta and chestnut stations, and you’ve got a buffet that fully leans into the season. Save room for the Dessert Village, where a giant Christmas log cake and a live-assembled St. Honoré tower take centre stage – and if you’re dining with kids (or competitive adults), there’s even a Christmas Game Zone and optional free-flow packages to round out the experience.

Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic
Most Christmas tasting menus in Hong Kong can feel eye-wateringly expensive, but Cristal Room by Anne-Sophie Pic is one of those places that makes you understand exactly where the money goes. On 24 and 25 December, Chef Marc Mantovani, in collaboration with Chef Anne-Sophie Pic, is serving ‘Noël Éclat’ – a six- to eight-course menu from HKD$1,980 per person, built around Michelin-star technique and a distinctly French sense of celebration. Expect signatures like Les Berlingots ASP, the restaurant’s Chicken from Bresse with Saint-Marcellin cheese, and wild seabass with Kaviari Oscietra caviar in Champagne sauce. It all ends with Le Millefeuille Blanc 2.0 – a feather-light, modern take on the French classic. Is it cheap? No. Is it a genuinely special Christmas meal? Absolutely.

Zozzona
Perfect for anyone craving something festive but a little different, Zozzona’s Christmas Omakase Menu (HKD$458 pp) delivers an Itameshi-style celebration – Japanese dining cues woven through chef-driven Italian cooking. It kicks off with an antipasti trio: Jidori chicken liver pâté on crostini, akami tuna tartare with Hokkaido uni, and prosciutto with stracciatella and Japanese fruit tomatoes. A cheeky nod to Japan’s holiday traditions follows with ZFC – Jidori karaage paired with wasabi tartare – before the menu moves into two pasta courses: fusilli with Kurobuta pork ragù and maccheroni lunghi with botan ebi in pink sauce. The main event is prime roast beef finished with Chianti wine mustard sauce, and dessert keeps things light with a bright, berry-led Tochigi strawberry shortcake.
