Bourke’s

A taste of Australia has landed deeper into Soho as Bourke’s on Peel Street rolls out its most extensive menu update since opening. Leaning into native ingredients and nostalgic Down Under flavours, the new drinks list spans macadamia, wattleseed, and pepperberry cocktails, as well as grown-up takes on Australian soft drinks. The food menu has expanded too, with Head Chef Tara Margarita adding plates like Sea Bass with cauliflower purée and finger lime, plus a Lamington finished with rum glaze and vanilla crème diplomat.

KITCHEN, W Hong Kong

At W Hong Kong’s KITCHEN, Chinese Executive Chef Alan Li from W Shanghai – The Bund is giving the seasonal buffet a distinctly Shanghainese turn. Running until 3 June, The Taste of Shanghai Buffet brings Chef Li’s contemporary take on Jiangnan and Shanghainese cooking to the table, with dishes such as Salted-Egg Yolk Baked Crab, Stir-Fried Shrimp with Lime, and live-station dim sum featuring soup dumplings and pan-fried favourites. A seafood-on-ice spread of lobster, snow crab leg, blue mussel, and cooked shrimp rounds it out nicely.

Qué Pasa

Guided by the spirit of Spain’s taverns, plazas, and coastal chiringuitos, Qué Pasa’s new Street Tapas Menu brings a more adventurous, region-hopping take on tapas to Tai Hang. Rather than sticking to the usual greatest hits, Chef Amaru Morales embraces spontaneous, on-the-go bites designed for passing around the table. Rabo de Toro y Patatas, Bocadillo de Calamar, Pan con Chorizo, Adobo de Pescado, and gloriously crisp Torrezno are all crafted to pair with cocktails, cava, and a very useful 3pm to 8pm happy hour. If ever there was a case for an evening of casual Spanish tapas, this is it.

Friday After Class

Bringing a more personal take on mixology to Friday After Class, The Third Culture Sip is the bar’s new cocktail menu rooted in memory, identity, and the flavours many Hong Kong third-culture drinkers grew up with. Rather than pursuing trends for their own sake, the menu transforms black sesame, yuzu, Caribbean spice, and Southeast Asian heat into cocktails that feel both comforting and inventive. We’re especially drawn to Butter Pop!, Spice & Sesame Martini, Yaki-Caprese Salad, and the Tom Yum Coco – all priced at HKD$130. Clever, nostalgic, and made for the city’s globally minded crowd, this is one cocktail list worth settling in with.

The Astor

A buffet worth leaving the house for – La Astoria: Flavours of Spain at The Astor, Eaton HK. Inspired by the lively energy of Barcelona’s La Boqueria, this new dinner buffet celebrates Spanish generosity in full. Each guest starts with an individual Lobster Tail with Saffron Aioli before moving into tapas, seafood, carving stations, and desserts. Our must-tries? The Gambas al Ajillo, the Croquetas Station serving hot Croquette de Jamón Ibérico, and the live-carved Roasted Suckling Pig. Then there’s the seafood bar stacked with oysters, snow crab legs, mussels, and crayfish, plus desserts like Basque Cheesecake, Chocolate Churros, and Crema Catalana. Add a pitcher of sangria and a random Hong Kong weeknight suddenly feels a lot more like Spain.
