Cherry Olive Cocktail Club Lands In Silom With Some Of Thailand’s Biggest Bar Names

Cherry Olive Cocktail Club is the latest venture from some of the most influential names in Thailand’s cocktail scene.

Bangkok is no stranger to ambitious cocktail bars, but few arrive with a pedigree quite like Cherry Olive Cocktail Club.

Set along Convent Road in Silom, the newly opened bar brings together four generations of Thai bartending talent.

At the helm is industry veteran Supawit ‘Palm’ Muttarattana, co-founder of Dry Wave Cocktail Studio, the award-winning Bangkok bar recognised by the World’s 50 Best Bars and Asia’s 50 Best Bars. He is joined by Chanond ‘Aunn’ Purananda, a long-standing pillar of Thailand’s cocktail scene; Chanchai ‘Boyd’ Rodbamrung, a Diageo World Class Thailand winner and the creative force behind cocktail programmes across several leading Bangkok bars; and Thanat ‘Kem’ Suttirak, Diageo World Class Thailand 2024 winner, who takes on the role of Head Bartender.

A Tale Of Two Garnishes

The concept begins with two familiar cocktail garnishes: the cherry and the olive.

Simple at first glance, the pair forms the foundation of the bar’s identity. Cherry represents experimentation, creativity and the energy of modern cocktail culture. Olive draws from the classics, celebrating the lasting appeal of well-made drinks and time-honoured craft. Together, they create a dialogue between old and new, spirited and elegant.

That balance carries through to the design of the space itself. Marble surfaces are paired with rose-gold stainless steel finishes, creating an interior that feels fresh yet familiar, without tipping too far in either direction.

A Menu Guided By Mood

Rather than organising cocktails by spirit or flavour profile, Cherry Olive’s debut menu, titled ‘YOURS,’ takes a more personal approach.

The menu is split between Cherry and Olive, with each drink named after a feeling, emotion or personality trait. Guests are invited to choose based on mood rather than category, making the list feel more instinctive to navigate.

Highlights include Good Old Days (Cherry), a nostalgic cocktail inspired by childhood memories and served with a popsicle, while Nostalgic (Olive) explores similar territory through whisky and cereal-inspired flavours. Nosy (Cherry) brings together truffle, jackfruit and beetroot, while Curious (Olive) places blue cheese at the centre of a cocktail designed to provoke a reaction.

It’s a menu that encourages exploration without taking itself too seriously.

A New Addition To Bangkok’s Cocktail Scene

At a time when many cocktail bars are becoming increasingly conceptual, Cherry Olive succeeds by keeping the experience approachable. The drinks may be technically ambitious, but the atmosphere remains warm and social, helped along by a rotating programme of DJs playing everything from current favourites to old-school tracks throughout the week.

Bangkok is already recognised as one of Asia’s most exciting destinations for cocktails, and Cherry Olive Cocktail Club arrives with the credentials, creativity and personality to make an immediate impression.
