One of Bangkok’s most anticipated hotel projects is finally taking reservations. The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok – the Thai debut of London-born luxury hotel brand – has officially opened bookings ahead of its long-awaited launch.
First announced in 2024 as part of the riverside Chao Phraya Estate development, the hotel has become something of a mystery as construction timelines shifted and updates remained scarce. Now, it’s finally moving from promise to reality – scheduled for 20 December 2026.

A Historic Landmark Reborn
This opening is significant not just because Bangkok is getting another luxury hotel, but because it marks the long-awaited revival of one of the city’s most important historical buildings.
The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok occupies the former Old Customs House, a 136-year-old riverside landmark built in 1888 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V). Designed by Italian architect Joachim Grassi in a neo-Palladian style, the building was once among Siam’s grandest government offices – distinguished by its teak flooring, imposing central staircase and elegant four-storey corridors.
Over the years, it also played host to important royal occasions, including celebrations marking King Rama V’s return from his travels in Europe. Despite its historical significance, the building sat largely abandoned for decades, gradually becoming one of Bangkok’s most iconic yet forgotten landmarks.
The Langham’s Approach To Heritage
The Langham Hospitality Group has earned a name for breathing new life into heritage buildings across its global portfolio, making the restoration of the Old Customs House a natural fit for the brand.
Joined by the restoration of the Old Customs House, the neighbouring historic post office building has also been incorporated into the development – creating a destination that sets heritage against modern hospitality.
The property will feature just 78 guestrooms and suites, making it one of the city’s more intimate luxury hotels. Many rooms overlook the Chao Phraya River, while the interiors pairs modern elegance with subtle hints to The Langham’s British heritage.
Michelin-Starred Dining And Wellness
Food is expected to be one of the hotel’s biggest draws. The Langham, Custom House, Bangkok is bringing its acclaimed three-Michelin-starred Cantonese restaurant, T’ang Court, from Hong Kong to Bangkok, alongside the brand’s signature Palm Court – known internationally for its traditional afternoon tea.
Guests will also have access to Chuan Spa – The Langham’s wellness concept inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine – as well as a fitness centre and riverside swimming pool.
