ON SLICE: Cyberpunk Frames For Those Who Make Their Own Rules

Your sunglasses can do more than finish an outfit. They can be the reason you build one. Hong Kong-based eyewear label ON SLICE puts eyewear first, with head-turning frames that reflect its principle that you should dress on your own terms.

Founded in 2020 by Leonard Drache and Mario Malimar, the brand says it has grown to more than 50,000 customers worldwide. Now, while continuing to develop its international following, it is looking to make a more visible mark in the city where it began.

Frames That Reflect Who You Are

ON SLICE’s motto, Slice the Norm, is an invitation to dress on your own terms. Other people’s opinions, social expectations and the latest trends can all influence what we wear. The label encourages you to trust your own taste instead, whether that means choosing coloured lenses simply because you love how they look, or keeping a favourite frame in rotation long after the trend cycle has moved on.

Its unconventional designs speak to people who see style as an expression of identity and enjoy wearing something that attracts attention. A pair might inspire an entire outfit or add an unexpected detail to a familiar look. The founders see accessible pricing as part of that freedom to experiment, giving customers room to try something different without committing to designer prices.

After Dark With The Owl Collection

The Owl collection is a good introduction, with Mecha Owl and Trippy Owl among ON SLICE’s signature designs. Across the range, round lenses sit inside metal frames, with black finishes offset by coloured tints. Spirals and mechanical motifs run along the arms, giving the designs a distinctive profile. Rooted in retro-futurism, cyberpunk and steampunk, the collection has a nocturnal mood that brings Tokyo’s streets after dark to mind.

A Stronger Presence On Home Ground

Run from Hong Kong by its two founders, ON SLICE has built much of its following online, reaching customers in the United States, Japan, South Korea and Australia as well as its home market.

The founders are now exploring retail partnerships and pop-ups that would bring the frames to more Hong Kong shoppers. Being able to browse, compare and try them on would offer a different introduction to a label many have encountered through a screen.

Those plans build on existing ties with local creators and photographers, with collaborations involving other Hong Kong brands also under consideration. Together, these projects could give ON SLICE a more recognisable presence in the city where it began.

Other fashion and accessory categories may eventually follow. For now, the ambition is closer to home: to become a familiar name in the city’s shops and wardrobes, with designs that are anything but ordinary.
