Uniwalk Qianhai

For a megamall that makes the term ‘shopping trip’ feel almost too small, Uniwalk Qianhai rises to the occasion. One of Shenzhen’s largest retail complexes, it brings more than 400 brands to Bao’an’s Qianhai area, covering fashion, sportswear, lifestyle goods and technology. New-energy car showrooms give curious shoppers much to explore, while bookstores and family areas offer a welcome change of pace. High-street staples, next-generation gadgets and offbeat finds are all laid out intuitively, making Uniwalk a solid choice for an all-in-one shopping day that feels expansive without becoming exhausting.

Dongmen Pedestrian Street

Lace up those trainers, pack some patience and get ready to explore one of Shenzhen’s busiest shopping districts. Dongmen Pedestrian Street captures the city’s long-standing retail spirit, with hundreds of shops packed into dense arcades and side streets. Bargain fashion, luxury dupes, independent labels, accessories, souvenirs and wholesale clothing markets are all part of the draw, with basics often available at impressively low prices. It’s crowded, fast-paced and full of old-school charm – a glimpse of Shenzhen before the glossy mega-malls took over.

Upperhills

This mall doesn’t feel like a mall at all – more like a stylish hillside village set against Shenzhen’s cityscape. Upperhills brings shopping, greenery and open-air spaces together, with cosmetics, perfumes and fashion labels spread throughout the complex. Major attractions include the world’s first MUJI Hotel, Shenzhen’s only Sony store and a selection of independent creative brands that are harder to find elsewhere. Cafés and restaurants offer plenty of options for a pre-, post- or mid-shopping stop, while the connected hotel makes it easy to stay within the complex and enjoy its minimalist Japanese design.

Costco

Costco opened in Shenzhen in 2024 and has been drawing crowds of savvy shoppers to its vast warehouse ever since. The membership-based superstore has made bulk-buying a major cross-border attraction, with strong value across Kirkland Signature staples, ready-made meals and China-exclusive products. It also stocks gadgets, toys, homewares and beauty buys at warehouse prices that help justify the membership fee. Sample stations are scattered throughout, making this the kind of place where you arrive for essentials and leave with a trolley piled high with frozen favourites, bakery treats and groceries from around the world.

Zhongshuge Bookstore

If a bookstore looks like an optical illusion, it’s already a winner in our eyes. Zhongshuge has filled countless camera rolls, and some of our best Shenzhen snaps have come from this surreal Bao’an destination. Located within the OH Bay complex, the bookstore turns browsing into a visual event, led by an enormous spiralling bookshelf that appears to curve through the space without support. Fairytale reading nooks, castle-themed children’s areas and shelves stretching towards mirrored ceilings give every corner something worth stopping for. The sweeping spiral remains the main attraction, of course. Most titles are in Chinese, but the extraordinary design alone makes this a worthwhile addition to any Shenzhen itinerary.

COCO Park

There are plenty of shopping hubs across Shenzhen, but COCO Park remains Futian’s original style destination and one of its most popular. Open-air atriums and a smart above-and-below-ground layout bring more than 200 stores into one lively complex. Fashion shoppers can browse major names including Lululemon, Uniqlo, Nike and Adidas, while blind-box stores, stationery shops and accessory boutiques offer plenty of less conventional finds. There’s also a dedicated LEGO Store for collectors and families. With fashion, dining and unexpected diversions all under one roof, it’s easy to spend an entire afternoon here. Be warned, though: you may leave with more bags than planned.

MixC Shenzhen Bay

One of Shenzhen’s most stylish shopping destinations, MixC Shenzhen Bay brings together luxury retail, striking architecture and modern art. Distinct themed zones give the complex the character of a cultural destination rather than a standard mall, with Louis Vuitton, Hermès and leading beauty and lifestyle-tech names spread throughout. Raised walkways, rooftop gardens overlooking Shenzhen Bay and large-scale art installations add movement and visual interest, making it an ideal choice for a day of high-end shopping in a setting with genuine personality.
