A Guide To Hailey & Justin Bieber’s Seoul Food Trail

Justin and Hailey Bieber arrived in Seoul on 23 October for a pop-up in Seongsu-dong for SKYLRK, Justin’s fashion and lifestyle brand. It was the singer’s first visit to the city in 13 years, following his 2013 Believe world tour. ‘Made it to Seoul,’ Justin wrote on Instagram. Over the next few days, fans shared sightings of the couple at restaurants and cafés across the city, while Hailey’s own photos offered a closer look at where they ate between appearances.

From Seongsu-dong to Bukchon, here are the addresses behind the Biebers’ Seoul food crawl.

Muguok

Set in a traditional hanok in Seoul’s Jongno district, Muguok has caught the attention of both the Michelin Guide and the Biebers. The dish to order is North Korean-style samgyetang: locally raised Korean chicken and rice each arrive in their own dish, while the savoury broth – simmered in an Anseong cauldron – is best enjoyed by the spoonful. Happily, you don’t need a celebrity budget to take a seat here.

Osulloc Tea House Bukchon

Even the Biebers made time for a matcha stop in Seoul. The couple were spotted at Osulloc Tea House Bukchon, where their order included matcha lattes, milk tea and ice cream. Osulloc sources its green tea from Jeju Island, and at this branch, traditional Korean design details meet a Western-style building dating to the 1960s. After a stroll through nearby Bukchon Hanok Village, it’s a lovely place to take your time with a latte – especially if tea is your excuse for dessert.

Dosan Hoikwan

For the Korean barbecue stop on their Seoul food crawl, the Biebers went straight to Dosan Hoikwan in Gangnam. The kitchen wet-ages its 1++ grade Hanwoo beef for 500 hours before grilling it over charcoal. With Peggy Gou, Jennie and Charlie Puth also among its diners, the guest list looks more like a festival roster.

Dore Dore

After dinner at Dosan Hoikwan, the Biebers had Dore Dore’s fig mochi cheesecake delivered for dessert. It’s a dessert that practically demands to be photographed – especially when the chewy mochi wrapper stretches to reveal rich cheesecake, figs and tangy yoghurt cream. For a mochi-pull moment of your own, head to one of Dore Dore’s cafés across Seoul.

Shabu Nambawan

For a casual meal in Gangnam, take inspiration from Hailey Bieber’s Seoul photo diary. At Shabu Nambawan, the couple sat down for shabu-shabu, with thinly sliced meat to swish through a bubbling pot of broth and cold Korean beer to sip between bites. Bring someone you’ve been meaning to catch up with and give yourselves the afternoon.

Sadelle’s At Kith Seoul

With Justin in town for his SKYLRK pop-up, the Biebers found a little New York on the third floor of Kith’s Seongsu flagship. At Sadelle’s at Kith Seoul, bagels come with salmon sliced to order, while the much-loved French toast makes a case for going sweet. Leave some time after brunch to browse the racks on the way down.

The Oh’s Room

The inscription on Hailey’s surprise cake in Seoul read ‘Happy Almost Birthday’ – a fitting nod to the Biebers’ early start on her November celebrations. Seoul cake boutique The Oh’s Room reportedly made the custom cake in just two hours, finishing it with pearls and edible gold. Keep the address in mind for a birthday trip of your own, even if the dates don’t quite line up.
